Tourism In The Maine!!!

Northeastern United States, Maine shares its borders with New Hampshire and Canada to the north and east. The south is bathed by the North Atlantic Ocean.

Augusta, the capital is a pretty cultural city. In the seventeenth century, it represented a stronghold against the invasion of the Indians. On the outskirts of the city, the Maine State House, where the legislative assemblies of the state sit, shows beautiful white arches surmounted by columns. History lovers discover with pleasure the Maine State Museum allowing the visitor to delve into the past of the state. A few steps away is the old fort of Augusta which is the oldest symbol of the arrival of the English in the United States. Historical reconstructions are regularly organized.

To the south-east, along the Atlantic coast, the port city of Portland has many historic buildings and some museums not to be missed. Portland is home to the Wadsworth-Longfellow House, home to the famous poet of the same name. First house transformed into a museum, it houses the furniture of three generations. Not far away, the Portland Museum of Art preserves the works of artists from the region. It is possible to admire very varied works - paintings, sculptures and ceramics - from the eighteenth century to the present day. Overlooking Munjoy Hill, the Portland Observatory, brick-colored octagonal tower, is now a museum. This one offers to the visitor, assembled at the summit, an impregnable view on Mount Washington and the surroundings.

Further to the northeast, Acadia National Park protects 40 species of terrestrial or marine mammals. The park also includes a variety of landscapes including islands, mountains, such as Cadillac Mountain, and lakes.

The state of Maine will delight nature lovers: it has superb sandy beaches, such as those of the seaside resort of d'Ogunquit or mountain landscapes suitable for hiking and climbing.

         Festivities

Among the major festivities in the state of Maine is the Elan Festival in Greenville at the end of May. Exhibitions and walks with the animal are organized on this occasion. The Summer Solstice Festival is celebrated in Rockland on June 21, gathering a motley crowd of dancers and musicians of all kinds. At the end of July, the biggest festival of the summer season is held, the Yarmouth Clam Festival, during which a big parade is organized.
